At this time we have two programs we use to reach our goals and we offer one-on-one-on-one training.
One youth. One horse. One mentor
The first is our FreeRein Program, which is designed as individual appointments with no pre-set agenda. In this program we use what we call our one-on-one-on-one training. One youth. One horse. One mentor. These sessions are based on the uniqueness of each individual.
The second program is our HoofBeats Program, which is more of group sessions although it can be done individually. This program is used to teach today's youth about horsemanship. The outline for this program looks like this (*may differ depending on age of participants):
Session 1
Lesson 1 - Learning the body parts of a horse
Lesson 2 - Barn/horse safety
- Safe barn attire
Lesson 3 - Knowing grooming tools
- Knowing tack
Lesson 4 - Horse body language
- Grooming properly
Lesson 5 - Horse characteristics
- Leading properly
Lesson 6 - Graduation Celebration!
Session 2
Throughout this session the group will put into practice what they've learned in Session 1 along with new skills.
- Cleaning tack
- Tacking and untacking
- Learning to understand your horse
- Having fun with your horse!
- Getting horses out of their pastures
- Cleaning stalls and the importance of maintaining clean stalls
- Cleaning pastures and why it's beneficial to horse and handler
- Importance of vaccinations, worming, and hoof care
- Graduation Celebration!
These are our two main programs and we're continually working to improve the effectiveness of what we do. Instead of focusing on producing accomplished riders, our focus is on cultivating strong youth.
*Parents or Guardians are required to stay with the child for the duration of any/all session times.
